"Oh crap, this is spilling and running at the wrong rate! How do I stop it? Where is the roller valve? Ughhhh...!" There you have it, a scenario of me some months back where panic kicked in and started dictating the situation. "¿Ok, Tania agarra la onda, qué tienes que hacer? ¡Tú sabes!" *Grabs the roller valve, closes it and presses pause on the pump.* You probably read that and thought "Huh, what?". Well that was me giving myself a quick internal pep talk in Spanish. I basically said to myself, "Ok Tania, get a hold of yourself. What do you have to do? You know!"

How many of us have been mislead in life? We all have. We have all unknowingly fallen victim to someone's terms and conditions. Assured things would be one way and later finding out things to be the total opposite, and not for the good. Disillusionment at its finest. Well the question is, "What do you do now that you are where you are?".
Just read the following phrase- "...because I am not and never will be powerless..." - does in not make you feel instantly powerful (Holiday, 2014, 19)? As odd as it sounds, I did for sure. I begin this series with the end in mind, as Stephen Covey would describe it in his bestseller The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. The "end" being a new way to interpret obstacles in our daily hustle, and using the lessons that come from them to our advantage.
Everyone must have a calling, I have to believe so. I need to believe so. There can come times when it can be difficult to know what that is. I think that when we choose to pick ourselves we get one step closer to answering our calling. Why? Because no one will pick us.
